Some highlights from the Junior Options After High School presentation

Some highlights from the Junior Options After High School presentation last week:

On average, the four-year degree is taking 5.5 years to complete
Average age of community college student is 28
Eastern still wants a minimum GPA of 2.75 – and 60% of courses are taken online not on-site in La Grande
Private for-profit care school ITT now also has a university side
Arizona as the lowest out-of-state tuition
If student is strong in science, encourage them to take ACT
Marylhurst and Warner Pacific provide rates that are more at face-value than inflated
FAFSA now want parent student lived with the most to complete FAFSA; NOT the parent who provides 51% of support to student
Since 1959, twice as many girls as boys have applied for financial aid
College admissions folks are looking at “self-advocating” as a sign of success, ie. a success indicator
